Christian Zehnder ist seit 2019 Kreativdirektor der Klangwelt Toggenburg sowie des neu entstehenden Klanghauses. Er ist für die inhaltliche und künstlerische Entwicklung und Umsetzung dieser Vision ins Toggenburg berufen worden.

Es entsteht ein einzigartiges Zentrum für Klang und Resonanz inmitten der Alpen, das ein breites Publikum als Klanglandschaft in die Alpen einführen wird. Das Klanghaus Toggenburg befindet sich im Bau und wird am 30. Mai 2025 eröffnet. Die Architekten Meili Peter & Partner in Zürich haben das Klanghaus entworfen mit einer einzigartigen Innenausstattung.

Gebaut als begehbarer Klangkörper aus einheimischem Holz, mit hohlen Wänden und Resonanzkammern in Form von Hackbrettrosetten, bietet das Klanghaus zukünftig die perfekten Klangräume, die den Stimmen und Instrumenten jene Resonanz verleiht, die den Menschen zu seinem Ursprung und seinem eigentlichen Wesen führt.

Die Klangwelt Toggenburg bietet Seminarien und Kurse, Symposien, eine Klangschmiede mit kleinem Museum, einen Klangweg und ein grosses Musikfestival in einer einmaligen Laut- und Biosphäre zwischen Churfirsten und dem Säntis.

Mit den ersten warmen Sonnenstrahlen starten die Eröffnungsfestwochen des Klanghauses! Vom 24. Mai bis Ende Juni lädt die Klangwelt Toggenburg ein, gemeinsam die Vielfalt der Musik zu feiern – von heimischen Klängen bis hin zu internationalen Rhythmen.

Ein Highlight ist das neue Festival «Der Lockruf» am idyllischen Schwendisee, das Ende Juni stattfindet. Hier verschmelzen Musik, Natur und Bildung zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. Inspirierende Konzerte, spannende Vorträge und interaktive Kurse.

Der Klangweg ist das Aushängeschild der Klangwelt Toggenburg und eine grosse Erfolgsgeschichte, die weit über die Grenzen der Schweiz hinaus bekannt ist. Bis zu 50’000 Menschen jährlich – Familien, Naturliebhaber, Musik- und Kunstbegeisterte besuchten in den letzten 20 Jahren den einmaligen Themenweg am Fusse der Churfirsten.

Jetzt haben wir den Klangweg für Sie erneuert und überarbeitet. Die schönsten und wichtigsten Werke des bestehenden Weges wurden sorgfältig restauriert. Über 15 neue Klangkunstwerke gibt es zu entdecken. Internationale Klangkünstler haben sich an diesem Projekt beteiligt und vielfältige, spannende Werke geschaffen, die von den Besuchern erforscht, erhört und natürlich zum Leben erweckt werden wollen. Themen wie Natur, Lautsphäre, Ökologie, Klima oder Achtsamkeit wurden auf drei neuen Hörpfaden aufgenommen und sogar einen speziellen «Sound Ride» auf einem Sessellift haben wir entwickelt.

Der Klangweg wurde während dem Klangfest im Mai 2024 neu eröffnet.

Das Klangfestival, unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Christian Zehnder, lebte wieder auf, zusammen mit dem ersten internationalen Naturton und Oberton Symposium. Inhaltlich massgeschneidert für das Toggenburg, bediente das Klangfestival und das Symposium verschiedene Aspekte und Strömungen der Naturtonmusik und ethnischer Kulturen.

Das Klangfestival Toggenburg wurde kürzer, mit einer grossen Vielfalt an Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, thematisch ausgerichteten Festivaltagen und noch mehr Festivalatmosphäre.

Spannende regionale und internationale Projekte, Kurse, Vorträge und Konzerte machten Vergessenes und Unerhörtes aus der Welt der Naturtönigkeit neu erhör- und erlebbar.

Christian Zehnder has been Creative Director of Klangwelt Toggenburg and the new "Klanghaus" Sound House since 2019. He was appointed to Toggenburg to develop and implement his vision in terms of content and art.

A unique center for sound and resonance is being created in the middle of the Alps, which will introduce a wide audience to the Alps as a soundscape. The Toggenburg Klanghaus is currently under construction and will open on 30 May 2025. The architects Meili Peter & Partner in Zurich designed the Building with a spectacular interior.

Built as a walk-in sound body made of local wood, with hollow walls and resonance chambers in the form of dulcimer rosettes, the Klanghaus will in the future offer the perfect sound spaces that give voices and instruments the resonance that leads people to their origins and their true nature.

The Klangwelt Toggenburg offers seminars and courses, symposia, a sound forge with a small museum, a sound trail and a large music festival in a unique sound and biosphere between the Churfirsten and the Säntis in Switzerland.

The opening festival weeks of the Klanghaus start with the first warm rays of sunshine! From May 24 to the end of June, Klangwelt Toggenburg invites you to celebrate the diversity of music together - from local sounds to international rhythms.

One highlight is the new festival "Der Lockruf" at the idyllic Schwendisee, which takes place at the end of June. Here, music, nature and education merge into an unforgettable experience. Inspiring concerts, exciting lectures and interactive courses.

The Sound Trail (Klangweg) is the flagship of the Klangwelt Toggenburg and a great success story that is known far beyond the borders of Switzerland. Up to 50,000 people a year - families, nature lovers, music and art enthusiasts - have visited the unique themed trail at the foot of the Churfirsten mountains over the past 20 years.

Now we have renewed and revised the sound trail for you. The most beautiful and important works on the existing trail have been carefully restored. There are over 15 new works of sound art to discover. International sound artists have taken part in this project and created diverse, exciting works that visitors are invited to explore, listen to and, of course, bring to life. Themes such as nature, the sound sphere, ecology, climate and mindfulness have been recorded on three new audio trails and we have even developed a special "sound ride" on a chairlift.

The Sound Trail was reopened during the Klangfest in May 2024.

The Soundfestival, under the first artistic direction of Christian Zehnder, came back to life, along with the first international natural and overtone symposium. The sound festival and the symposium were tailor-made for the Toggenburg in terms of content and served various aspects and trends in natural music and ethnic cultures.

The Toggenburg Klangfestival was getting shorter, with a large variety of artists, thematically oriented festival days and even more festival atmosphere.

Exciting regional and international projects, courses, lectures and concerts made the forgotten and the unheard of from the world of natural tones audible and tangible.
